Morrison Scandal

This Morrison affair wouldn't be a such a big deal except for two things

1) There's an air of hypocracy because he did it during a campaign in which he ran ads showing he was a family man and during which he was denying (old) accusations of sexual harassment. His wife even got involved by defending him against former AG Kline's smears

2) The partner alleges that Morrison tried to pry info on Kline's office from her, including info about a federal investigation. (She worked for Kline after Morrsion become AG)

Morrison is going to have a tough time living this one down. Kind of like Bill Clinton, everything he says will be questioned for its truth because it feels like he lied to the public (Clinton did lie, no question)

I supported Morrison against Kline and probably still would considering what a disaster Kline was. At some point Morrison needs to come clean about what he did or did not discuss with this women regarding Kline's office. He'll probably hide behind (It's under investigation) but this rises to a level of public trust where the subject of the investigation (him) would be more hurt than helped by secrecy .....

Yup. Once you've lost the people's trust, it is tough to regain. (if it can be regained) To have a moral/ethical lapse has been called by one writer..."the ultimate fall from grace."

I don't know about the charges. He said/she said. One thing is for sure, Morrison has admitted the affair. Question: If he lied about this during the campaign, (while portraying himself as the family man with the T.V. commercials) What else did he lie about? Can he be trusted? We're not talking about an ordinary citizen, but the highest law enforcement individual in the State of KS. It casts a cloud over the Criminial Justice System in KS. I am forgiving. But as far as I am concerned, I think he should resign. Now. His credibility will forever be in question.

You've a point. Clinton seemed to recover. Like the "teflon man". Still amazes me that he won a 2nd term. He did it without my vote.

No one is perfect. But, if we say we are something, we should be that. In our society, we put counterfieters in jail. I've a problem with KS top law enforcement official being caught by his own admission in this position.
Again, for the sake of all Kansans and the rule of law, he should resign. Now.

My thoughts,

just goes to show once again how those in power or those enforcing rules are indeed the ones also abusing the power and breaking their own rules. look around here in your own town and you will see it our city officials here breaking rules and abusing power and those enforcing rules abusing their power just look at our police force here. how many of the higher up city positions are getting raises and bonuses this year while the lowly hard working employees get nothing...we already know what our new city manager got for "all of the great things hes gone" really? like what? the only people i have seen doing great things and working their butts off are the city workers out on the streets and what did they get? from what i am hearing NOTHING and in fact will be GETTING EVEN LESS due to citys low wages low raises no more bonuses for the lowly workers but they will be making them pay double for some benefits next year. and our water and sewer gets raised while they cater to big business here who get out of it. but then they give themselves huge raises and cars and expense accounts and constant traveling out of town all on our tax money wonder how many of the big wigs at city hall are still getting a bonus this year on your tax money and what kinda raises will they get on your tax money the city should run like the government group it is but instead they treat theirselves like royalty up there on my dime!

Who cares about the affair as many politicians have them we have seen time and time again. Its the other charges she is raising that are important but I will say she probably wouldnt have said anything until he wouldnt leave his wife for her or whatever he did to scorn her. Still, I have a feeling she wouldnt have said anything if they werent true, and this kind of misconduct probably happens more than we know although we are smart enough to realize it does when it comes to people in power and helping their fellow buddies, just too bad if your not their buddy I guess. As for Clinton, he rebounded because we all realized that practically every president has done it, look at Kennedy he was doing it all over the white house it seems, but the press wouldnt have called him on it in those times, now they will in these days. Most politicians get caught up in their power and abuse it and probably more of them have affairs than those that dont, men with women throwing themselves at them just cant seem to help it and suddenly their brains are not where they need to be. I wonder if female politicians are the same, but I seriously doubt it, women usually dont let things like that cloud their judgement.

Chris Smith was "shocked"??? Well once again he opens his mouth before thinking first. I love it when he talks to the paper as it is always entertaining reading if nothing else.

I think there was more going on than just the affair and he stepped down to avoid further scrutiny. But the idea that other politicians have had affairs and kept their office really isn't a defense. If you remember, Bill Clinton was impeached -- he just wouldn't step down!!
