Greta v. Kasha?
Greta Goodwin announced at the Demo caucus last night that she will run for reelection for state Senate. She said she'll be running against Kasha Kelley, the state rep from Ark City. Kasha hasn't announced whether she'll run, but people assume she will because of Kasha's political ambition, connections and fundraising abilities. And that fact that she hasn't said she won't.

So is this political ambition on her (Kasha) part or ego. This sounds more like a prize fighter wanting to unify the title in a world where she has run unopposed once and weakly opposed once.
Does she want to represent or to build a political resume? I would thin k accomplishments as State Rep would carry as much weight as partisan feudalism for the sake of partisanship only
Seems like what we have here is a classic example of people should not talk about what they know not. Blogs are what they are and we understand that. Don't you wonder if blogs by people who "create" the news should hold themselves to a higher journalistic standard?
The statements that Sen. Goodwin is quoted as making are practically crazy. She is announcing that she is going to run against someone who is not running but is only presumed to run??? Am I missing something here?
David is missing a beat here too by jumping in on that same bandwagon. Maybe he should talk to Rep. Kelley (as I have)since its always nice when you can get DIRECT information instead of hauling off and putting words out there just to hear his head rattle. She will tell you she gets asked that question all of time if she will run against Sen. Goodwin. Just because people want her to doesn't mean that is what she wants to do.
The answer I got is she genuinely hasn't made up her mind yet. What is wrong with that answer? It amazes me how people always seem to have to make up some reason to doubt that or try to put some story behind the story.
David must like the angle of drawing his own conclusions about what he calls political ambition. None of the signs of that appear to be in place that I can see. Then again maybe you should ask the plans for yourself if you are really interested.
Why not look at the facts? See who donates to Sen. Goodwin and what is in her warchest:

One thing I don't see is a "war chest."
David is in a position where he is trying to make something out of nothing (see previous post of his attempt to label people). For someone who describes himself as "Unaffiliated Be forewarned — I'm not a registered Democrat or a Republican — but I lean to the left. My favorite word in politics is "practical," which I wish I'd hear more often." and appears to take great pride in trying to avoid labels wanting to see a broad middle ground. If that is the case why spend so much time focused on painting OTHER people with labels? Inconsistent?
What ever happened to "just the facts ma'am." ?!??
People who have had the opportunity to get to know Rep. Kelley realize that she isn't the person that David would like to make her out to be. Please deal with the facts and let us know real information so we can be better informed citizens.
i have had the cahnce to meet Kasha and get to know her a little and i will say i am glad that a women like her is in the position she is in she works very hard and does not take decisions lightly
Thank You Kasha you are appreciated
I appreciate Kasha and like her personally. But, why would Arkansas City be any different than anywhere in the USA? We listen to hours of endless speculation about the political landscape. My goodness, more than half of what airs in the hot media news is speculation as to what someone will do if they win the Whitehouse or a Congressional/Legislative seat etc.
We frankly are not a nation of wait and see. We seek to predict everything from who will be fired as coach, to who will be named to replace a coach who has not been fired to who will win the 2009 Superbowl only days after the 2008 Superbowl has ended.
The price of gasoline is influenced by the anticipated consumption rates of people in our country and the projected increase in usage in European or third World countries over the next 50 years. Natural gas prices are set based on whether someone GUESSES that will have a colder than normal winter. We spend much of our present life pondering what the future holds.
What David offered is called politics. Politics is not for whiners. Privacy is for private citizens. Those who hold public office accept public speculation as an occupational hazard.
Now someone who has a personal affinity for Kasha wants a set of rules that says don't try to speculate on her political aspirations. Pish Posh!!
My goodness, it's not some hideous scandal he is postulating. It is simple conjecture on the future political landscape in Cowley County.
