Can whoever posted this comment point me in the right direction for this info. I purused the Web site but couldn't come up with the comparisons?

"Standard and Poors keeps a webpage which ranks all schools in the US at www.schoolmatters.com . In the past year, USD471 has used a reference to Standard and Poors as a basis for announcing awards for economic efficiency as well as other awards, but they seem to not include the whole picture.
According to www.schoolmatters.com, there are 47 Kansas high schools of a similar size to Ark City High School (500 to 999 students).
Ark City High ranks 10th from the bottom in Kansas in reading (tied with Pittsburg) and 5th from the bottom in Kansas in math (also tied with Pittsburg).
Maybe some focus could be directed to improving the high school reading and math performance."

In the last 2 days the numbers have changed on the S&P site, possibly from the update review reported in the Traveler's article. The previous math proficiency numbers were 35% and are now 50%, a substantial improvement.
To get the data, go to http://schoolmatters.com
under the selection buttons and boxes, go to "Find State Information"
select "Kansas" and click "go"
Under "Search and Comparison Tools"
select "Advanced Search"
Check boxes for "Grade Levels" 9,10,11,12 (to include high schools in Kansas with 9th grade)
and select "Overall Enrollment" "500-999"
Once the next page comes up, you can click on the heading for math proficiency or reading and it will sort all the high schools in the selected target range.
There has been a significant improvement from the last data. Ark City High School reading is now ranked 19th from the bottom out of 49 and math is ranked 12th from the bottom out of 49. It is a substantial improvement. Good work!
