The Cowley County Republican Party is holding a fund raiser Nov. 29. You may have seen the slick posters with the glamor shots of Rep. Kasha Kelley and Congressman Todd Tiahrt on them announcing the event. This reminds me of the rumors that Kasha eventually would like to replace Tiahrt. The Kelley family is pretty close to Tiahrt, with Greg Kelley having been his Cowley County campaign chairman and with Kasha's husband Scott, having worked for Tiahrt. Kasha herself has not said that getting to Washington is her goal, but neither has she ruled it out.
I think Kasha makes a good candidate and she as the fiscal and social conservative credentials to follow in Tiahrts footsteps. But it's hard to see how a person from Ark City could win a district dominated by Wichita. She would have better footing as a state senator, which sets up a showdown between Kasha and Greta Goodwin, the current state senator in this district.
But that's only if Greta runs again. She almost retired before the 2004 election, which she narrowly won in a slugfest with arch conservative Ray LaBoeuf. I think Kasha would be hard to beat, but there has been a general backlash against Republicans and religious conservatives lately. I'm certain the Democrats, and probably even some moderate Republicans, would fight hard to keep that Senate seat.

I will vote for neither Kasha or Gretta, about a year ago I wrote both in regard to possible programs for older female displaced workers and got no answer. I did however get an answer from the governer. Will I vote for Kasha? Nope, I was under the impression she represents all of us not just a few.
That's an awful lot of grumble for just one form letter. The governor has a larger staff to reply to letters. Try calling them. It has always worked for me.
Apparently you have not been on unemployment with days to run out and no job possiblilies. Till you walk a mile in others shoes..... I would say enough said. Did she reply? Nope! I work out of state now paying tax there, and will be moving there soon, thank you very much.
I'm sorry to hear about your employment problems and it sounds like you have been a little mad at the world. I hope things get better for you.
Thx. David,
Interesting thought on Kasha in Washington. I think she would be a strong candidate someday. Meanwhile, I think she would make a great KS Senatorial candidate. As you note, Mrs. Goodwin probably won't be there much longer. I believe Mrs. Kelly is an honorable person. (To some of the other bloggers, don't know her schedule, but, 1 person can only do so much)
I have visited the Capitol and the schedule the Reps. & Sens. keep is very hectic. At least she's trying. To be a Rep. or Sen. is truly a community service. No one in their right mind would put themselves through that unless they felt they were helping their fellow man. Godspeed, Kasha.
No need to be sorry about the unemployment problem, there is no problem now. And no, not mad at the world. Just politians that like to appear they are there for all people and are there for a few. Thats all!
No reply to the letter means that they represent the few rather than the many and you won't vote for them because of it.
I don't get it. It sounds like making up a story.
No reply to the letter means no reply to the letter. Nothing more.
No reply to the sender means whatever the sender determines that it means. Please respect an individuals right to feel offended, disappointed or unrespresented. When it is your turn then you can decide that no reply means nothing for yourself
Make up any meaning you want for yourself and be offended or whatever and thats OK. When you then tell others that people are doing or not doing things based on the story you made up crosses the line. Its passive aggression. see Seaton's post "civil and fair" about unfounded accusations.
Kasha and Greta are good people and they haven't done anything to you.
