Death penalty — Sue Norton
Ran across this local angle while searching about death penalty issues on the Web. Sue is from Ark City. Here's an older but more detailed version of her story.

How could anyone feel like that? It's simply not in my DNA to be able to forgive someone of something so horrible.
I believe in the death penalty. The only thing wrong with it is that it takes too long to be implemented. Sitting on death row for 20 years is not swift justice. And, there is always the possibility, especially with as liberal an administration as we have now, that the death penalty could be overturned. Recently here in Kansas, the Carr brothers, who's horrendous crimes I'm sure you all are aware of, were spared from the death penalty because the law was not worded properly and was overturned. It was later put back in place, but because they had been convicted undert he prior law, they are now spared.
I feel very strongly that people who commit such heinous acts should be put to death. One way or the other.
I can only hope that if anything ever happens to one of my family members, that I can be as strong as the Sanderholms have appeared to be during this process. I'm not sure I could.
So is she the one that sat in court one day and said the jury shouldn't play God? Well Justin Thurber played God so why can't the citizens who were asked to sit on the jury? Perhapsy mrs. Norton you can forgive but what works for you doesn't work everyone. keep your nose out of this case.
Ok...so I read in tonights paper how the defense wanted a plea deal to spare Thurber's life. WHy did they wait until right before trial? Why did they, if they didn't want the death penalty do this a year and a half ago? Who cares what Mrs. Norton and her friend want?????? This case is NOT about them! Regardless of what sentence is handed down Justin thurber will never be free again to kill anyone. Justice has been served.
Just because you are for the death penalty doesn't mean she's a bad person. How abut God Bless Jodi's family????
I agree with the poster who said just b/c that worked for her doesn't mean it works for everyone. BUt I guess according to someone else on here Mrs. Norton holier than the rest of us. Well good for her.
Yes, the Bible says and eye for an eye, but what did Jesus say about that old law? Wow! Do Bible thumpers actually retain what they read? The Bible also allows polygamy, slavery, and many other things that humanity has evolved out of. Read the Bible...Retain the Bible...
The Sanderholm's have said they don't care now that he won't be able to hurt any other innocent people. That is very telling that they are very good people. I think we should follow there lead and just leave it up to the jury.
Personally I think they should let Thurber into general population of the prison! Then he can feel how Jodi did...He deserves the same torture! A true eye for an eye!
Apparently the post I submitted in response to Charles made up comment about the Bible content was too long. The Bible does condone slavery and polygammy, the other two you mention were not claimed by me.
There are many passages in the Bible, both OT and NT that give guidance to slave owners and polygammists.

The Bible documents polygamy, aultery, fornication, slavery etc...
If you read it closely and for understanding, you will find that while all these things were documented, not all these things were condoned.

Trust me I am not defending her but, her parents were brutally attacked and killed. Just so you know!

Perhaps, that was the most rediculous and ill concerned statement!
