Lloyd Lisk

A good man passed away this weekend.
From what I could tell, Lloyd had a real heart for this community and was dedicated to serving it and improving it. He was also very kind and gentle.

It struck me yesterday that Lloyd is the third former council member from the first part of this decade who has passed away. Both Janet English and Wayne Short passed away from cancer in the last two-three years.

Gives you pause — time makes history of us all, sometimes quickly. But the world keeps rotating.

Not to seem insensitive but it's less of a phenomenon when you consider that all those were retirement age when elected.

The actuaries might support the argument that electing leaders over the age of 60 increases the likelihood that the relayionship between the time of their service and the time of their death might be slightly less.

All of them were good at many things beyond their role as City Commissioner. Great parents and community contributors they all were.

Their passion prompted them twice. Once to run and serve in local office and then to step aside for a new regime of ideas and energy. They cared enough to serve. And they cared enough to hand over the reigns.

I liked Lloyd very much. I admired Wayne. Janet was a great person.
