Obama's background

For anybody who believes the internet and email rumors about Obama being a Muslim, or being raised a Muslim, please see these links.

Some people on the Traveler poll said they wouldn't vote for him because of his Muslim heritage. The efforts to attach him to Islam, despite the facts at hand, are disturbing.

There is most definitely a smear campaign going on in regard to Obama's faith. I have had the opportunity to meet one of his key staff members. I very much believe Obama's faith is genuine and that he is not Muslim. That aside, he is without question a liberal and probably to the left of Hillary if you compare their voting records. However, I think he is a purer candidate than Hillary. She seems to be filled with all kinds of strange motives and has entirely too much baggage. Obama would almost certainly make a better choice than Hillary. That said, there are at least 4 candidate on the GOP side that are better for the country than any in the Dem camp.

And what about Huckabee saying he wants to change the Constitution to fit the Bible... Is he insane? There goes the seperation of church and state!

And which parts of the Bible? The part where the Earth is only 6 thousand years old, AND the center of the universe, or the part where god says you should stone your teenage children to death if they are disrespectful to you?

I'll keep my Constitution the way it is, thank you!

The seperation of church and state is the requirement by the government to be a member of a certain church. Historically, that is during the time period of the framing of the constitution the framers were afraid that there could be a "national religion" much like the Church of England or the they way the Folks in the Netherlands were required to join a certain church in order to be considered citizens. Consider also that most of are laws are based on the 10 commandments, would that mean then that we are basically calling ourselves a jewish state?

Seperation of church and state is there to insure that the government can never tell us what religion to believe (or not believe). It's not only freedom OF religion, but Freedom FROM religion as well.

Imagine if a president were to change the constitution to allow prayer in school, and to "better fit" the bible... which is what I'm afraid of with Huckabee
