Whoa Huckabee

Up until now, I thought Mike Huckabee did a fairly nice job tempering his religious beliefs with his political positions. But here's what he said in Michigan the other day.

"I have opponents in this race who do not want to change the Constitution," Huckabee told a Michigan audience on Monday. "But I believe it's a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living god. And that's what we need to do -- to amend the Constitution so it's in God's standards rather than try to change God's standards so it lines up with some contemporary view."

Gulp

Change the religion and the country and it sounds like what some Islamic leaders say ...

there is a reason religion is kept out of politics, just look at the story the other day about the woman who killed her four daughters because they were "full of demons" NO RELIGIOUS FANATICS in my government please keep it in your churches on sunday

I'm glad someone in the media has picked up on this story. I think it should be on the front page of every paper, and lead every newscast. I think if the general public knew about this, it would spell the end of Huckabee's campaign.

Just imagine a world where there was no freedom from religion... where someone else's ideas about their god would be piped into our ears 24/7. And who's god would it be? Well, Mike Huckabee's of course... because everyone knows that their god is the right one... President Huckabee would be no different.

I would disagree on comparing Huckabee to Islamic Radicals. Keep in mind, this country was founded on Christain beliefs. Not to mention that the church and state seperation mostly refers to the setup in other countries such as the Netherlands that required its citizens to belong to a particular church in order to be citizens. I'm not saying Christians don't have their radicals, but Huckabee certainly isn't one.

I guess you must not have agreed with my opinion, since I posted on here days ago, and it has yet to show up.

This country was founded by people who were trying to evade religion. Its roots stand firm in freedom of religion.
By ammending suggesting the constitution be ammended to cater to Christian ideals, Huckabee is being a radical: enforcing his view on others in the name of religion. Radical.
