How much racism?

Fascinating story from Wash. Post this morning. I think this demonstrates that Obama's campaign is, although he doesn't cast it as such, to some degree about breaking racial barriers and overcoming the deep legacy of racism, where it still exists.

Apparently it exists on both sides of the fence -- he picked up the African-American vote in North Carolina around 95% or close to it...

I read the article this morning. All it showed was the naivete of the Obama volunteers. We saw it before with the Clean for Gene group and the wealthy Pepperdine youth picketing stores to stop people from buying lettuce in the Cesar Chavez days (showing my age?). I welcome them to the real world filled with people who are tired of accusations and labeling and are venting in a really minor way. Were there any liquor or appliance stores looted or police cars torched? Frustration and anger feed on feelings of helplessness and diminishing control. I think that underlying all of this is the fear and realization that WE are losing OUR country, or what we always considered OURS. In email, caps are considered shouting. A small voice in the growing wilderness.

Yep that's right 95%, I just wonder if that is just about the same percentage of the African American vote as what non African American's have gotten on the Democratic side in the past. I would think that since most African Americans vote democratic that percentage would not be surprising to any one who follows the political race's in those states in which Obama has won.
And that thought turns my thought to think who is doing the best job in this particuler party to win those votes

What planet are the Obama campaign volunteers on? Did they really expect going into this that they would not run into people that are still racist? Even though I am not advocating for Obama, I do think it is good to see that most of our country has come a long way from a racist attitude. Same goes for Hilary Clinton. It goes to show that people are coming out of a mindset that our President has to be a white male. Finally!!
