The story mentions political symbolism and photo ops. Doesn't get any better than the one in Ark City last week.

Should have seen her on O'Reilly last night, after being asked about George Tiller. All she said was he was a "family" practitioner in Kansas. Sorry, I wouldn't want to bring my family to him for a routine checkup. She knows how to play the game, and dodge the bullets when asked.
I've never been impressed with her.
I'm not voting for Obama, but surely wouldn't if that's what he chose to be VP!
That might be enough to make me vote for McCain.

I hope she does, It would be a great day for Kansas. And now the rest of the story.........She would not be in Kansas anymore, and would help the vote for McCain!

Any comments that are relevant to her political accomplishment? I think it a great day whenever anyone from Kansas is discussed on the national poltical scene.
We are so forgotten in Washington DC.
The old adage from a certain nationwide organization of elected officials a few years back was "Everything happens in Kansas....eventually." The nation rarely views Kansas as the leader in anything beyond twisters. (Oh yeah and basketball)
A Kansan in the White House? Wonder if the Kansas economy might not get a bit more love from our federal government.
Or, we could wait for the candidate from Az to show us as much regard as the incumbent from Tx. (Can we say Tanker deal flies over Ks enroute to Europe)
I don't think a Kansan in the White House will really do anything tangible for Kansas. When Eisenhower was in the WH, did KS really benefit, other than having the Interstate Highway system go through Kansas? Like another poster said, she is a transplant from Ohio, only here because husband is from here. Most tag lines I hear about her, is she a Blue governor in a Red-leaning state (making her desirable as a running mate), and she was the child of a past Ohio governor. In my opinion, she is an "ok" governor, being blue or red. I don't think she would be vice-presidential material; rather see her be a senator, or if qualified, a cabinet position or ambassador (might get some flak on that comment).

Headlines mean little if there is no action going on.
'We' are KANSAS. If we want to be noticed, then we must do something to make ourselves be noticed. (something good, something big, or something great)
Maybe we just don't know how to do it. Current Administration has done a whale of a job benfitting Texas and his partners in the energy business. White House seems pretty big by US of A standards.
I recall seeing internal communiques during the 2000 election with strong endorsements for Bush. Energys have posted record earnings and return to shareholders since around 2001.
Not a bad boost in state marketing to have all the major media outlets flopping in to catch a glimpse of the nation's leaders on a brief respite in the state either.
Sometimes it don't hurt to put possibility over partisanship. I think of events that transformed regional or statewide economies. I recall the abyss that was Atlanta, Ga until they successfully bid to host the Olympics. It transformed from urban blight to economic hub and the outfall has rippled through most of the state.
there may be no benefit to Kansas having the VP hail from our state capitol. However, we know it is not even a possibility if we do not.
I guess it is pretty much to say if what we are doing aint working. Why not be open to something different.

If Kathleen can equal that...darn...seems like that ought to be enough to get all of Kansas to vote for her and Obama.
That little old interstate system did more for our state than you can possibly imagine. Since you referred to it, I'm assuming you're old enough to remember life in Kansas before it. You remember, don't you? That was when KS existed without the economic benefits of having easy trucking access to industry and agriculture in the state.
So...something to equal Eisenhower's value to his home state like that above? I'm hooked.
I don't know very much about her, but I don't think I want someone like her representing US, as Kansans. Someone that wants to/has grant(ed) illegal aliens in-state tuition at State Universities, and is all for the murdering of unborn babies will never get my vote. Period. She calls herself Catholic... I wonder what the Pope thinks about her immoral decisions!!
