Warren winning
OK. It's just our rather meaningless online poll, but Jay Warren jumped out to a big lead against the other six candidates.

Warren is a good guy: smart, nice, successful.
Really quite a few good ones it is hard to pick just three. Warren, Snell, McDonald, Matthews, Margolius. I don't know much about Fry and Waresack, maybe the Traveler will educate me.
Margolius voted against Lowes if I recall, so he has probably made his bed. But the Christian-conservatives like him, so he might make it.
Warren is a good guy, and will stand up to the problems we have on the council. McDonald will be good too with other to back him up. He has been in the minority on the council, even though his ideas were the same as the majority of the citizens.
Pat has tried and tried to stand up to the three amigos, but has been outnumbered. Now I see an oportunity for his ideas to see the light of day. Along with Warren and Snell, we might get some good things done.
Its amazing that Fry wants to move the hospital because of increased ambulance time. If he would have gone to one "educational meeting" before the vote, he would have heard our EMS and our surgeon Tyson Blatchford show studies of how little impact the driving time is. Its how quickly you get to the victim. Before Blatchford, we had several pts that had to be driven to Wichita, which apparently to Fry is where our new hospital is going to be located. A major un-informed candidate.
I read a letter to the editor in the Wichita paper last week. The author was lambasting President Obama over the stimulus package. Teh comment that got my attention (made me laugh) is when the author stated that had President Bush given such a stimulus package all the current Obama supporters would be screaming in opposition. Humor was that President Bush DID offer a $750 billion stimulus package.

Commissioner McDonald was once Mayor McDonald. The point is that he is not simply a hostage to a more aggressive majority on the commission. He also served with a more tempered crew for two years.
When you assess him for re-election, don't bury the total history in the quest to make him a victim of the past two years.
Fairly assess his contributions since 2005 (McDonald, Hockenbury, Short, English, Rice I think and then Smith Kuhn and Margolius.
Then, rather than manufacture histories for others (one person asserted that Snell had been part of the ol' boy network in AC for over thirty years when in fact he came to AC in the mid 90's) clearly stufy the accomplishments of each. Several have public service records that can be compared.
I am not on his team - not on any candidates team - but Jean Snell did not run a popularity contest as Superintendent of USD470. He did cause several stabilizing changes and improve the financial profile of the district without causing a ruckus or making a spectacle of himself.
I think we need to consider his ability to advocate and produce "smart change." That is change that has a short and long term objective. It referes to change that considers what might occur after he has been replaced and what the consituency will need beyond a four year cycle.
He's retired. He's very intelligent. He has a ton of experience. I would say, elect him and then work his tail off getting Arkansas City on a growth track.
He is one guy I know who aint gonna cuss you if you challenge his actoin plan and he may actually give a d*** what the people have to say.
But I am not even sure he likes me personally. Hmmmm.

It's sad that people "get in" because they smooze people during church.
