Downtown improvement
Foss Farrar's story about financial help for downtown/historical buildings in Ark City. With a Main Street association, we'd be on top of these type of benefits, and more, and be able to promote/highlight what outsiders see as the jewel of the city. One obstacle is buildings owners having to pay dues. But it appears they payoff can be significant.

It is not quite that easy...lots of things involved in a Main Street project. Payoff can be great but it takes more than something simple like dues.
There simply are not that many things that are "easy".
I like the way my friend Sandy Staton says it: Never wish for more than you are willing to work for.
It's not like it's something new to the world. Hundreds of cities have tried and implemented AND benefitted from it. Others have tried it and found it does not yield positive reslts but that is about the dynamic of their community and not the program
We can't just want something to happen. We have to work until something happens.
