Two amigos

Can't help but point out this local political cartoon. I laughed out loud when I first saw it. It reveals through comedy what is a good point — the TIF forces are strong and outweigh the anti-TIF forces, at least on the commission.

What does the second 'F' in "TIFF"(sic) stand for? Is this the same as a TIF?

Whoops. Thanks.

To all the Obamanites,

The cartoon portrays the "two amigos" as against Ark City moving forward. I do believe they were both very much apart of getting the hospital started, they both voted for the recent rec center combination with the high school athletic fields as well as many other items. They are not for giving a tax break to a company that quite frankly can afford to pay the taxes that will come with the new Lowes or Box store. They have never said they don't want a Lowes or Home Depot just that they did not approve of the tax break!

Boss Hogg

Roscoe get your crap and lets go, these Obamanites are going to start shooting!

Hey Hogg,

We're laughing at, not with you. It would take too long to beak apart everything that is wrong with your post. But just so you know, you make little, if any, sense to those of us w/ half a brain.

You mean the TIFF wasn't going to be paid by their taxes? Who was going to pay it? and Why should we bring water and sewer close enough for more businesses to tap into it, that might bring more business. I'm learning to like the idea that WE are going to pay for the repairs and upgrades on Skyline instead of the TIF. I'm waiting to see what the 2 amigos are going to make us pay for next. And how they will continue to prevent us from getting what we need in the future.

What we need? What is it that you need in the future? I am sure a Lowes is exactly what the Dr. ordered. Do your homework on how TIF actually stunts growth around the TIF district.

Professor Hogg

Roscoe, get the car these Obamanites need to do their homework! We will wait for their response at the local watering hole!

Some of the smarter commissioners are embracing the use of Tax Increment Financing (TIF) to attract development, however school and county officials have expressed caution sighting that there is plenty of evidence that show the use of TIF incentives are actually counterproductive. But what do they know.

I didn't remember much about Boss Hog that was good. I looked up the following on Wikipedia:

About Boss Hog
Schemes
[edit] Criminal
In a typical episode of The Dukes of Hazzard, Boss hires others to carry out his crimes, then diverts the blame onto the Dukes—usually the cousins Bo and Luke. Some of Hogg's favorite schemes include bank and armored car robbery, counterfeiting, fraud, and 'shine running.

Sounds like someone who would support Mel and Dustin. Really smart whoever you are.

There is humor in irony.

Once again

All that glitters is not gold

If there are so many problems with TIFFs then why is Wichita using them over and over and over again?

I thought the cartoon was very funny, but then I'm the one who started the whole "Three Amigos" thing back when people actually visited the traveler boards. haha

Because Wichita want to grow silly.
