Sounds like the Democrats found a legitimate candidate to take on Kasha Kelley, who decided NOT to challenge Greta Goodwin for Senate.
My guess is that Burr's education background makes him pretty sellable as a candidate and will become a focus of the differences between the two, if Burr becomes the general election candidate.
Kasha, though, has had a good year legislatively and politically with the update stalking legislation and the transparency web site being launched.
Even in a year that favors Democrats in general, she would be hard to beat

I wonder if the ex-principal can spell d-e-l-u-s-i-o-n-a-l? I was glad to see he is taking the weekend to think about it and study it more.
He really does seem like a decent candidate. The trouble is he must really be out of touch from being away for so long or he would realize that he doesn't stand a chance.
Let's for the sake of argument compare him to Sid. Sid was a very well-known, well-respected, well-spoken, and well-financed opponent in Kelley's first election. He even outspent her. His core competency was the same (education). That was the "year of education" with the school finance lawsuit. Yet he couldn't pull it off then.
The much better bet for the ex-principal and for the entire community and state would be for him to take Goodwin out in a primary. There are plenty of Democrats who are fed up with her and would be ready to jump ship.

Completely thankless job. Can't imagine why anyone would want to do it other than out of sense of duty or to make life better for others.
I know this candidate very well, and it is precisely out of a sense of duty and a desire to make things better for Ark City that he is running. He is a sincere, caring individual, he gets along well with everyone, and District 79 would be well served to see him elected.
He should run for commission instead then. We couldn't do better with our state representation.
Don't know the Burr fellow, but I've talked with Kelley several times. Definitely serves out of a sense of duty and has done one hell of a job. Delivers on what she says she'll do.

This is a common political tactic when a candidate is considered "too old" and may lack health or energy to fulfil rigers of politics. On national level consider McCain. Everyone is asking about his age, is he too old. McCain will be 70. President is more serious office for sure. And McCain can't hide behind a picture at taht high office. It's a legit question though. Burr is 67 or so. But no TV will pursue him so a picture offers a "younger" and "more vibrent" appearnace. Burr isn't the only hopeful to ever use that tactic. So someone is trying to use smoken mirrors in politics to gain ground for themselves. What's new?

Kelleys is doing a good job, he should take on Goodwin and move her out. Goodwin shouldn't get a pass with as mamy people as she's made mad.
About the picture and the age - he's at least 69, and looks possibly older. I hear his health is poor. Probably a good guy, but not who I'd want representing me in Topeka!
