I think it's an impressive slate of candidates. I think they are, for the most part, a bit monocultural with little ideological separation expected.
I still say, in the early going here, Arkansas City could benefit from a knowledge base brought by candidate Snell.
Right now, City Hall is awash in neophytes and beginning to feel the full effects of four sequential one term governing bodies.
The problem created by the constant turnover is that everyone goes in determined to perfect and prevail in the trial and error model. Before electeds comprehend the scope of the office, they are making life changing policies and local laws.
By the time they begin to recognize the impact of questionable legislation, tehy are gone and absorb the consequences as private citizens.
If we are only going to give folks one term to get it right, you should lean ehavily on someone who has some local government experience. That would be Snell.
Here's a jab at the current GB. At least Snell would know how and when to schedule a visit to Topeka so that he doesn't drive four hours round-trip for a ten minute visit.
LKM sponsors a day for all units of Municipal government to visit and the state legislators pretty much plan to spend a few hours with their local elected counterparts. Snell knows that because they do the same for local school boards, too.
