Computer conundrum

My editorial from last week on the computer problem. One thing that some people are asking is ... if the system is so bad, how come these problems weren't brought up earlier? I do know that old systems can have a hard time keeping up with new demands. But it's a good question and one I'd hope Steve Archer and city commissioners are asking.

The city manager is not going to answer the questions because it would directly reflect on his lack of performance, and the commissioners are so easily 'buffaloed' by the city's administration that, even if they ask the questions, they will buy whatever answer is given! There is no accountability in government positions, nothing is required except 'favors' and 'keeping quite'

Do you have computer problems also? I see you have the same posting on "Computer conundrum" on your blog site twice.

Wasn't this issue brought up by the city's auditing accountants a couple of years ago? Not to stir anything up, but didn't the then 3 Amigos go against new programs and decide that a city employee could create something?

So let me get this straight. Some staff person inputs a few numbers wrong a few times and instead of firing the incompetent person or at least reprimanding them, we need to purchase $250,000 worth of software. That makes too much sense. I'm sur if the administration wants it and says we need it they will get it.
