Obama signed the final portion of the health care reform legislation yesterday. Been chomping at the bit to post about this: The law certainly is far from perfect, but it is an overall benefit and step in the right direction for a variety of reasons. YES, it is expensive, but it is paid for with a variety of fees, taxes and cuts, none of which is levied on the middle class.
Yes, it requires an individual mandate to purchase insurance BECAUSE people already are offered health care whether they pay or not. We ALREADY mandate free health care. Requiring people to pay into something into that is, actually, a conservative principal. And just the fact that 30 million more americans will have insurance and not face the fears of getting sick or going bankrupt is the morally right thing to do. Another plus is that now people won't be stuck in a job or prevented from trying something new because they have to protect their employer provided coverage. With a reasonably priced individual market and coverage of pre-existing conditions, this will unleash more economic freedom - something that sounds pretty conservative.
Cries of unconstitutional and socialist are demogoguery based on fears about the economic state of our country or simple political motives. If they are true we'd better scrap medicare and social security. In fact I think most americans wanted to go further. They supported a public option to compete with private insurers. And I'll bet you the country as a whole would support a single payer system if it were something like medicare for all.

medicare and social security had bi-partisan support. This was a total left takeover of healthcare with dirty tricks and bribes paving the way because even many democrats realized that it was bad for the country.
But congratulations to the radical liberals for forcing it on an unhappy public. Although, I don't see your party being happy about it for too long.. November is only seven months away.

Its going to be so nice when we get to the point that "life" is all about money - who has it and who doesn't - and the Government makes those decisions - even worse then it is today!

Whats going to happen when America can't sell its debt to the world through Treasuries? No buyers because they don't believe they will get PAID! (It can't happen to us we are the richest and most powerful Country in the World! Right?)

You have to pay higher rates of interest to borrow money from Foreign Countries! (Interest gets out of control.)
OR
When Social Security starts claiming it's debt held in Treasuries. Like their going to start doing this Year!
You probably cheered everytime they robbed money from those trust funds and redistributed it! Then replaced it with hard copies of treasury notes! Then You'll probably cheer every time they cut expenses or benefits to Seniors to reduce/or default on that amount of debt! (Trillions of Dollars!)

The Government Controls the healthcare industry and your money can't buy those special services it can now! It just wouldn't be fair and would be considered a form of discrimination against those who can't afford those same treatments! We simply have to treat everyone the same! (Here's your BIG SHOT!)

The Government decides your Child MUST have an Abortion!
