Hospital CEO out

Phyllis Macy-Mills was fired last week. Here's today's story. More probably later this week.

What has always seemed weird about this ongoing saga is that there is such tension between the board and the CEO, while at the same time such progress in making the hospital profitable and getting the bonds approved and construction started on the new facility.

We should all have such productive conflict.

Something tells me this is just the latest chapter in this story.

ACI runs the show, with over $900,000 profit riding on the new hospital, the money palyers want there guy in the seat.
It is astonishing that a person that brought a business out of the black and into the red is now fired when the sales tax for the new Hospital will not even pay the morgage, the hospital will need to be a high end profitable venture to keep from going bankrupt.
the sales tax was not the correct way to build this hospital and now the City is looking to the future as how they will aford the cost of a LAME DUCK,,, leave it to the Democrats to be democratic with your money!

I really appreciate that Phyllis Mason-Mills stepped up and put out so much love and dedication to keeping the hospital afloat and then making it flourish all the while battling a hostile board.
Much to the surprise of many she then made very significate changes in policy, and procedure that would benenfit most every citizens in our community.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Hmmm... the board keeps changing CEO's but the same problems keep happening. Maybe the city needs to change the board!

It is kind of interesting the number of no comments and can't even remember her last day?
Yet her contract goes through June?
If the Gung Ho gang gets their way they will build a massive complex!
The question you have to ask is where is all that business going to come from Winfield? What if it doesn't?

The new board will pick a CEO with little, if any, medical expertise whatsoever. It will be a male, probably in his mid-late 40's. The headstrong intelligent woman who helped so many just didn't fit the plan. Now the brilliant people Phyllis surrounded herself with must report to Regnier, someone who knows less about medicine than my 4 year old. Pathetic. Does the board think we are idiots, or do they just not care?

Most people life in a small town because "small town America" represents values, solid morals, integrity and character. If you look at the posts, they are filled with greed, lust for power, and disregard for decent and hard workiing people. Sounds more like organized crime in Ark City and the making of another Sopranos! Who is leading the Gung Ho Gang? If you look at who is meeting who around town, you will see one of our physicians leading the pack of wolves!
Phyllis Macy-Mills stood up against that very thing and got knocked over.

Ms. Macy Mills led the institution from a money losing proposition to a facility that defies the majority of rural hospitals by consistently making money. Not only that, the employees liked her! Where is the problem with this scenario? She also spent the first part of her association with the facility working for free! The destructive potential of the politically motivated(and not health care motivated) board in firing her far outweighs ANY good that they imagined could come from this. Someone needs to stop them before they drive off all the loyal employees and start putting health care above petty politics!

Does anything happen in Arkansas City without at least one conspiracy?

We get pretty pitiful sounding over time. Everything is a conspiracy. Come on now.

Wasn't the original construction to have come 1.2 to 1.5 Mil under projected cost?

I wonder where that money went?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm? Pocket change!

I have to agree with you, everything is a conspiracy! Only the money boys call it a development plan, and always find a way to use taxpayer funds with help of the corrupt city administrators!!

There are no corrupt City administrators. There may be some incompetent City Administrators.

You only need to corrupt people who are smart enough to get in your way.

These are simply not bright enough to get out of the way. That's why their careers are anchored at home. If they could perform on a higher level they would have done what other administrators and managers do and shop their resume around the state or nation.

But city administrators certainly are NOT corrupt.

"that's why their careers are anchored at home"

Apparently you know nothing of who our administrators are! Only one, the city manager, is from this town. The dept. head and assisstant of environmental dept. are from out of town, one of whom drove a car with Texas tags for YEARS, the street dept. head is from out of town, the city administrator is from out of town, who also drove a vehicle with out of county tags for WELL BEYOND the time limit allowed by law!! I say they are corrupt, as the dictionary defines the word to include 'spoiled, by mistakes, or altered for the worse'

To say that they are "not bright enough to get out of the way" is rediculous!! They have settled into VERY lucrative positions with absolutely no accountability, they are free to do as they please, to whom they please, and have the power to help cover up felony theft with NO NEWS COVERAGE!!
