Smoke Free? or Free to Smoke?

This is a good letter by Ralph McDonald. It does seem that business owners should have the right to allow smoking, but there are waiters, cooks, delivery people to consider, and the occasional non-smoking customer who finds him or herself in a smoking establishment due to appointments, or trying to accommodate a friend. Seems like when you look at it from a public health standpoint, smoking bans over ride the choice issue.

David Allen Seaton JR. never ceases to amaze me with his blogs. First you ridicule everything that comes out of Mells mouth including his side when it comes to smoking issues. But now you have gone and changed your tune and agree with Ralph's letter even though he is on Mell's side.

Occasional non smoking customer? Obviously you don't go into the same restaurants that I do. There will be three or four smokers polluting the air for the other thirty. I do agree that it's a "rights" issue. Where we disagree is that you feel the rights of the minority smokers are more important. I believe the rights of the majority who don't smoke take precedence. Lets put it on the ballot and let the voters decide.

For once Dustin has a point.

Where are you eating? It's not in Ark City. I only know of two places that allow smoking here, and the non-smokers are way outnumbered. It cracks me up when nonsmokers say they will not patronize bricks or DMaes, I was not aware nonsmokers even went there.

Even a blind squirrel gets a nut once in awhile.

I think David's issue is how Kuhn goes about letting people know his opinion. Brash and Rude are two words that come to mind.

I have to ask you the same question. Where are YOU eating. Bricks, Coffee Break, APCO East and Daisy Mae's all allow smokers. That's four I believe. FYI until the steak house started serving breakfast they were the only choices for a restaurant type breakfast as opposed to fast food. I was a regular for breakfast @ Daisy Mae's for over 20 years I suppose I know just a bit about how many smokers were there when I was. It varied but lately it was three or four smokers. Be surly if you wish but it only makes you appear obtuse.

If I were a business owner I would want my product open to the largest number of people availbe. Scenario 1: allow smokers and non-smokers= 100% population, Scenario 2: allow only non-smoking- 40-60% pop. DUH!!!! Allow smoking. Patrons that don't like it will set their own limitations anyway and choose places for many different reasons. (bad food, service,facilities,etc...)Remember if you don't like smokers you aren't forced to be around them, and get real you wouldn't patronize a bus. 100% of the time just because it was non-smoking. You would probably still eat and visit other places. This is garb quit taking peoples rights/choices away from them. Oh yah, non-smoker here too, but will fight for my rights whether I choose to exercise them or not!!!

We have no right to vote on how a legitimate and legal business is run. That is government meddling in its purist form, you know like the commies did and that failed!

@1:09 never been to coffee break, and I didn't know APCO sold food. To answer your question, in AC Ive eaten at Mozittis, Bei Jing, and the Steakhouse. If I go out to eat, which is perhaps once a month or less, I usually go to Winfield.

You really ate at Dmae's for 20 years??????That tells me a lot about you.
