Taggart's internship
Taggart is certainly qualified and would likely do a great job as intern for Cowley First. The concern, though, is the appearance of favoritism and deal-making. It looks little insider trading. The question for Wall, County Adminstrator LeRoy Alsup and other elected officials who oversee Cowley First is .... is employing Taggart and fostering some suspicion worth it? Also, it does not appear that the position was advertised to see who else might be qualified out there who is not an elected official.

I think the whole thing stinks of insider trading. The position was never published and there are plenty of unemployed and highly qualified individuals in Cowley County who deserve at least the opportunity to apply for the position that are not already working in a position that seemingly is a clear conflict of interest. I guess that they can do whatever they want if they keep the elected officials in their pockets. I personally can not in good conscience support Cowley First as having the communities best interest at heart knowing the way they chose to handle thi situation. I feel that LeRoy Alsup obviously has his own agenda.
Looks like Cowley First will end up in the same toilet as CCEDA. Good job Alsup and Taggert for sucking the integrity out of it. Just what our County needs right now.
Some truth to bother the posts at 1:13 and 6:24. Interestingly enough I find myself not really caring about this, and I think that is a bad sign as if we had even a decent economic development agency, I would probably care. About the only place I see as having done even a decent job of economic development is Cowley College, and I think they should be doing quite a bit more lately.
And while I can agree with that my thoughts are that they spend a great deal of money on the salaries of these people. You would think that they would leave out special interests and hire qualified individuals that do not have conflicts of interest rather than give one kid two salaries and prevent another hardworking individual from having a job.
Maybe Leroy Alsup should hire one of the Arkansas City, City Commissioners as an intern to balance out the county.
I think it is ridiculous and sad that these idiots are in control of the future of our community. You can pat them on the back all you want but how much do you really see them getting out there, getting noticed and being a part of bringing something great to the community? It's obviously just another way for these guys to funnel money into their little group. If they are receiving grant money and other forms of funding they should at least be held accountable to show something for it. If they continue to make a mockery out of Cowley First and turn it the same direction as they did CCEDA then eventually we are going to lose funding right along with faith in a Cowley related development group.
