I have had to move back to Ark City after many years away. I am saddened to see that it has so seriously deteriorated. It is even worse than when I left. Streets are in total disrepair. Homes that look more like tenements with fire pits and cars in their yards. I even saw a horse being kept on North D street! The police department is pretty much the same. Except, Wallace has brought their ineptitude to new heights. The city council is still exceptional at crippling opportunity for growth- as I learned Lowes was so successfully kept out of the impoverished village.
Yep, same old broken down town. Devoid of joy and opportunity. Home values decline further, crime goes up, growth opportunities flatly rejected. I am sorry to be here and see this, and can't wait to move out again. I'm sure I'm not the only who feels this way. May God have mercy on the soul of this pitiful little town.
