15th street promise

Not sure how the city commission can veer from the plan it promised voters for the half cent sales tax on street repair. They city ran large ads in 2008 stating specific projects the tax would fund, including the 15th Street repairs in year 2.

I suppose priorities can change in two years, but it would be like breaking a promise to voters because it was very clear.

As someone who has the unfortunate duty of driving on 15th street every day to and from work, I can tell you that I would not have voted to have my taxes increased if fixing 15th had not been part of the plan. And to have someone vote for something, and then change what that something consists of is crooked with a capital C. DO what you said you were going to do with OUR money.

What did you expect! We were all lured into the trap. This commission has done what they want, when they want, and however they want, with complete disreguard of the community. There actions are based upon personal agendas.
Face it they will tell you what you want to hear and do the opposite!

This is the latest of a bunch of lies and misdirection from the commission. Commissioner Kuhn and Smith were supporter's of this sales tax and now they say 15th street shouldn't be done. How many more lies will the community allow them to make. I will bet they either table the issue for "retreat" or once again change their stance and "allow it" happen (to make them feel more powerful). Just like when they forced everyone to resign or be fired...Word on the street is they still aren't done with getting rid of people.

It's actually consistent with another theme.

A Staffer at City Hall says the water utility is going broke because all the citizens are giving their money to the casinos.

Later, the staffer retreated and said, it's not casinos. It's transients sending their 12 year old children to request service for defaulted parents.

Still later it was staffer saying it had nothing to do with casinos or minors. In fact it was because all cities were now doing this $100 gouge on it's municipal customers.

After no city would back him up, staffer said it was outdated software that was responsible for a $19mm loss as a reason for changing policy.

When software company showed commission how to appropriately adjust the spreadsheet settings to show the full number, it was lack of training and unwillingness to train employees as a reason for policy change.

Finally, it was that the City Attorney could not make enough money unless the Commission agreed to let her double as a debt collector for people who were more than five days late paying their bill.

So, tell me again about lies at City Hall. And, why would a well paid City Attorney, who retains her private practice, also want to encourage a new policy that allows her to directly benefit financially. That borders on embezzlement.

If that one worked, probably someone would have come up with a law that allowed for a city leader to confiscate property of the owner's house was more elaborate than the staffer's and occupy it at the citizen's expense.

When you are done criticizing the elected officials, let's go for fixing all of City Hall.

It never ceases to amaze me how liars twist the truth to fit their twisted version of reality.

Here are the FACTS:
1. Staffers never stated the City is going broke. Staffers did say there was a problem with increasing bad debt.
2. Staffers did NOT say citizens were giving all of their money to the casinos. Commissioner Kuhn DID say on several occassions the customers spend all of their money on cigarettes, beer and the casinos.
3. Staff did NOT say the customers were transients. Commmissioner Smith stated that most renters are transient.
4. Staffers did say children, relatives, and friends try to have water turned back on in a new name to avoid having to pay their bad debts.
5. Staffers did not state that all cities charge $100. The staff did present a list of cities to the Commission and how much they charged. The cities charged from $25 to over $100. And let us not forget the City Commission voted on this 5-0. In one month the number of bad accounts went from 1100+ to around 75 (looks like it worked). Since the Commission changed their minds the BAD accounts went back up from 75 to over 1000+. Hmmm...
6. I'm not sure about the $19 million issue. However, it is a fact the software is outdated and does NOT meet the needs of the CITY. This is based on findings from the Efficiency Audit (found and hired by Snell and the Commission), the Annual City Audit, and the Internal IT Manager. But of course I'm sure they are all lying???
7. The city staff DOES need additional training and continued education on various aspects of their jobs. However, I think any successful business or industry understands the importance of continued training and education.
8. People don't go to the attorney for debt collection for being 5 days late in paying their bill. People DO go to the attorney or debt collector for NOT paying their bill after 90 days.
9. The City Commission asked staff if a debt collector was needed. The Commission then asked the City Attorney if she could do it and she said yes. So the Commission was the one to actually ask the City Attorney to be the Debt Collector.
9. The City Attorney is a very professional individual with the highest ethical standards. Embezzlement? Really??? Show Proof??
10. I'm not sure about the ramblings and babbling about the confiscation of property and living in it at taxpayers expense??? Maybe this falls under the "Black helicopters are circling outside your house...you better go check"???
11. You are absolutely right lets fix City Hall. In April lets vote out Snell, Kuhn, and Smith (and Kanyon).

Just remember, It is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt!!! Next time do a little research, don't lie, and get your FACTS RIGHT!
