Stimulus effect

Editors of the Wall Street Journal approved this story on the success of the stimulus plan. Socialism, or sincere attempt to boost economic activity?

I found the following the most interesting part:

Many forecasters say stimulus spending is adding two to three percentage points to economic growth in the second and third quarters, when measured at an annual rate. The impact in the second quarter, calculated by analyzing how the extra funds flowing into the economy boost consumption, investment and spending, helped slow the rate of decline and will lay the groundwork for positive growth in the third quarter -- something that seemed almost implausible just a few months ago. Some economists say the 1% contraction in the second quarter would have been far worse, possibly as much as 3.2%, if not for the stimulus.

So does this mean that even conservatives see it as accomplishing the goal it had? I sure hope the complaining will stop about all this "wasteful" spending and the focus will get onto the real problem... the upcoming address that will indoctrinate kids into socialism. That's what really matters.

Is anyone ready for the 2010 and 2012 elections yet? I sure am. I just hope that the politicians that run are true conservatives! Conservatism has always been the backbone of strong national security, fiscal reponsibility, and good family values. I know that this may come to a suprise to many, but think about it. Every time a conservative gets away from conservative principles, he fails in his policies and loses elections. Take for example all the republicans that lost in 2006 and 2008. All of them were elected because the country was tired of the way liberals were spending and taxing, along with all the other liberal ideas that were circulating around that time. Gun control, gay rights, and weak national security just to name a couple. In 2006, the people were tired of the way republicans were growning the government, and spending our tax payer dollors. Then in 2008, Barack Obama ran a pretty conservative campaign. He ran on fiscal responsibilty, stronger action in the war on terror, and Tax cuts for 95% of the american people. Those ideas are very conservative ideas. This just goes to show you what the people wanted. Then in the usual politician fashon, he started doing exactly the oppisite of what he promised. now I just hop that the nation can see what true liberalism is and change course. sadly though, I don't see any Reagan republicans out there yet.

1:26- "Stonger action in the war on terror"- translation- shut down our ability to fight terror by closing detainee prisons and turning us into a socialist nation that is so far in debt that we are enslaved to other countries.

Very well said Ray. I think Obama lied to get in office, and only those paying attention knew what we were in for.

What? You don't think all the people who voted for Obama did so because of his platform? You mean- no way- that maybe they did it because he was black? Made ridiculous promises? Is giving us so much change? hmmmm...Well, with us having unemployment close to 10%, illegal immigrants basically the #1 recipient of our social services and education assistance programs, and more debt than our country can ever hope to repay given to fat cat corporations that spent it more than once on executive bonuses (i.e.- AIG), along with the fact that our President apologizes to other countries for our way of life.

Well- I guess you activists got your change. Is that what you were looking for? I'd like to know how many of you are proud that you made the whole thing about race, rather than giving a crap about the direction our country was headed in? While it was much more fun to propel someone into office that didn't have the knowledge or experience, you didn't pay enough attention to what side you were playing on, now socialism is on the rise and the very things that made our country great are being cast aside and more debt is being created. And, no, I'm not talking about the President speaking to our children- there is nothing wrong with lifting up the kids- he was under to much scrutiny to make it personal- I'm talking about where we will be in a few years. If illegal immigrants are continually rewarded for being criminals in our country, there won't be an America anymore, you'll be calling it Northern Mexico. And it will be just as dirty and poor because they will turn us into the place they couldn't wait to get away from and we will be endebted slaves to countries like China that own the notes on the trillions of dollars that Obama approved for bail outs. Good job people.
