Once upon a GOP
There used to be practical Republicans from Kansas. Bob Dole supports health care reform moving through the Senate. Dole could be tough, but he wanted to get things done and understood that conservative principals had to bend some with the needs of the country. Where are you Pat Roberts — a once-champion of bipartisanship?

The 'needs of the country' are more accountability of all government employees and elected officials, LESS SPENDING before the American dollar is completely destroyed (if it's not already too late),term limits, less taxes, health reform through other means than government control, putting GOD back in our schools, immigration limits, and the list could go on.
Perhaps the one thing that the country needs the most is more responsible journalists who would relentlessly investigate our governments actions.

It is apparent that you have already decided that the government reform is the way to go, but I don't think so! The reform proposed includes fairly healthy fines to be imposed on people who do not comply, which is nothing more than a 'tax' in my mind. Just be aware that, with the administrations new FCC czar touting the extraordinary accomplishments of the Chavez revolution in Venezuala and his control of the media in that country, you may well find yourselves in a future position of being fined for not complying with the government on your printed messages!!??
Where was all of the outrage over excess spending when the congress was authorizing tens of billions of dollars for the Iraq war? Enough was spent in one year to pay for health care for a decade. That was deficit as well. Oh, I see. It's OK for a Republican president to deficit spend but not a Democratic president. I understand now.
I think Bob Dole was the last time I voted republican.
