Illegal fireworks

Seemed like there were more illegal fireworks this 4th than ever before in the city limits of Ark City. There was a garage fire in Winfield from smoldering fireworks.

Love fireworks myself, we shot some off in the county. But it will take a few more accidents, or one horrible one, for the county to reimpose the ban. I wonder how smart it is to let folks shoot fireworks. Some of them are pretty powerful. Like mortar rounds.

Which are illegal fireworks? I think I am missing something in this story. The one in the Traveler quotes Wallace as saying people shouldn't light fireworks, and doesn't specify legal or illegal.

Seems very ambiguous.

UH OH...here come the right wingers and their anti-regulation speech again. Brace yourselves. I can hear it already, "Fireworks don't hurt people and property, people do." "Obama is a socialist!!!" and "They can pry my fireworks out of my dead cold fingers."

I was out of town and came back to find several bottle rocket type fireworks in my yard. I guess I'm lucky my house was still there when I got home.

Well the fire in Winfield was apparently caused from putting the spent fireworks in the trash by or in their garage!

Guess we need to outlaw FIREPLACES - because every year someone improperly disposes of their ashes and causes a FIRE!

Or

Charcoal grills and Turkey Fryers

Or

As in another related fire incident started their motorcycle too close to the house then found out it had a fuel leak.

No, we just need to outlaw ALL THE PEOPLE who make unintentional mistakes! (We live in a World where accidents don't occur - its always someones fault - just ask an Insurance company or Lawyer)!

Btw: Then we would also get rid of the need for Insurance companies and some Lawyers!
