I have mixed feelings about this. Gotta follow the guidelines, and if one exceptions are made where does it stop. But it doesn't seem like that big of a violation to light a sign that otherwise follows the rules.

What type of downtown does AC want ? A ghost town or a town with businesses ? In this economy I would think less red tape would be helpful.
Another example of government getting in the way. good grief! Its a good looking sign, not some sign advertising for hookers or terrorists!
