Anti-abortion forces

Kansans for Truth in politics sent out an email today highlighting some races to watch. in Kansas. They said the following about Senate District 10, but could have said the exact same thing about Goodwin-Abrams in District 32. Abortion politics is never too far from the surface .....

"Mary Pilcher-Cook is battling for election to the Kansas Senate after being targeted and defeated in the House of Representatives by the abortion/human embryo experimentation crowd. If elected, Mary would take a precious Senate seat away from a pro-abortion Democrat, and put the Senate one vote closer toward the political Holy Grail of a veto-proof supermajority."

How can a Christian vote for a candidate that advocates abortion? Just seems like a contradiction. Abortion=the murder of an unborn child. The most defenseless among us. I lend them my voice.
Christians stand for life.

Are there any Christians on here who plan to vote for a pro-abortion candidate? If so, how do you rationalize that? I do not understand how you can do it and still claim Christ as your Savior. (I'm not judging you, just asking a question. There is one JUDGE and I'm not Him) Do you think Jesus would endorse abortion? I notice even National level Pastors standing on the abortionists side. Voting for and publicly endorsing pro-abortion candidates. I'm the 1st to admit that there are many important issues in an election. But, this issues looms like a dark cloud over us. How many we as a nation have sent to eternity before they had a chance to draw a breath. It is a 21st century holocaust.

No attacks, please, only honest answers to an honest question.

This is a political board, with a religious question, but the two are forever connected. Any takers?

Dave, thank you for letting the above post through. I believe it deserves an honest response from those who are of faith but are not paying attention to this key issue. I can't comment on it though because I don't understand either.

Wonderful post!

We'd all better think it through, before going to the voting booth.

I'll attempt a stab at this. I think we are in desperate need of revival in our nation and that requires all of us confessing our own sins and truly seeking our Lord. To do this will require us to refrain from behaviors, both public and secret, that are offensive to the cause of Christ.

I think those who confess the name of Christ, but who vote for a pro-abortion candidate are rationalizing their position by saying such things as: these kids will go to a better place, they would be raised in terrible homes (perhaps those with no faith and value system), and the usual arguments about rape, incest, etc.

I think it is similar to those who view pornography (because they are not receiving enough perceived affection at home); those who are greedy and work too much (I am supporting a family / giving to the church); those who do not read the Bible (too busy); those who do not go to church (hypocrits); etc.

I think those who vote for pro-abortion candidates and are Christians have trouble reconciling the two, so they equate abortion to any other sin that people commit and respond "Judge not lest you be judged."

I also think that Christians, just like non-Christians are subject to the trappings of this world and like some of the things that some candidates tend to promise and will overlook just one of their positions, albeit a big one. There is also a propensity to vote along party lines as is often passed down to kids from their parents.

Next try.

My pro-life views were certainly not passed down from my parents. It's just that, even before I became a Christian, I have always seen it as murder. I'd probably just not vote at all if there weren't a pro-life candidate on the ticket. Values are values!

Thanks folks. Good posts. Also, I was hoping for a local Pastor, clergyman, minister, or church member to jump in here. How do you process this? What do you do when you pull that curtain to vote?
How do you counsel people on this?
(anonymous is ok) :-)

This subject goes to our soul. It deserves our deepest thought processes and soul searching.

The typical partisan party line talking points won't work with this issue.

Anyone else?

I, a member of the clergy, make this statement:

Each person will be held totally accountable for the vote, or shall I say, the support that they give the candidate who speaks on the issues that concern our Heavenly Father.

We will not be able to say, 'we did not know' or that 'we feel that this particular issue was a minor'.

The best advice that I could give to the men and women of God as they prepare to go into the voting booth:
pray first,
seek the heart of Father God,
then vote by asking yourself:
"Will my Heavenly Father be pleased?"

"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." -- II Chronicles 7:14

Hmmmm.....
Was just wondering, where are the Pastors, ministers, and preachers?
Maybe they don't read "worldly blogs". Maybe they're too busy to write on them. Maybe...

Then as I was musing on the question, the thought came to me, ......they don't have an answer.
Sad.
Not enough guts to even write an anonymous stand on THE most important issue to Christians in the 21st century. How can they even claim the title "leader"?
They can't. No wonder the non-Christians don't believe us.
Maybe I'm being too harsh. I hope I am.

As this thread prepares to dump out the back door on this page, let it be known that life is precious, and God is the Giver.
Forgive us Lord, for the murder of the innocents. Forgive those in leadership who are too weak to even say a word.

Thanks for the thread, David. goodbye

for the unborn.

I agree.

Although it amazes me how most of us will stand up and scream about almost anything and everything - the financial situation, TAXES, building the hospital, or not - helping our young people, or not - dreaming of improving our city, or not!

Insanity, continue being silent and watch the unborn continue to be murdered.(And then keep trying to convince yourself to stand and say I'm a Christian, I love the Lord)ha
The Bible says that even a child shall be known by his doings. It also says, love- not simply by words, but by your actions.

Remember this one thing:
In the end you'll be judged by your fruit - by the ONE who is most capaple, The Giver Of LIFE!

Think on it. You still have a few weeks to decide to STAND for the ONE who died and gave HIS life for you.
