Wingnut of the Week

Goes to .... lots of choices this week with the conservative conference, CPAC, going on in Washington, D.C. But Liz Cheney goes off the deep end in a deadly serious way by saying Obama's "incompentence" is getting people killed.

If Obama is incompetent fighting the war on terror, then her Dad and his boss George Bush would be what? "grossly negligent""terrifyingly terrible" "utterly awfully" — Iraq war, letting Osama bin Laden get away, allowing Taliban resurgence in Afghanistan. All of which costs thousands of lives.

Obama is, literally, tasked with cleaning up the messes her father left behind.

I am just wondering what facts you have about Bush letting osama bin laden get away. I hope you are not watching Michael Moore movies again.

It's pretty well established that bin Laden was trapped in a region called Torah Borah in Afghanistan but we pulled back from pursuing him.

Search bin laden and torah borah and you'll find plenty of info.

Perhaps at the time it didn't seem a big deal, that we would get him eventually, but .....

Liz Cheney is no different than any other "opponent" of President Obama. She wants to see him, therefore America, fail in order to recapture a little political power. Her and her father appear to be inviting and desiring an attack just so they can say, "I told you so."

Kudos to Ray for demanding facts!!!

I would like to nominate the Obama administration for "Wingnut of the week." It was a pretty cowardly act to release the DOJ findings on a Friday evening in which they stated the infamous authors of the "torture memos" just exercised "poor judgement" rather than facilitating war crimes.

Hooray!!! Now there is no deterrent for torturing Muslims, or anybody else for that matter!!!! Geneva Convention--Shmeneva Convention!

If thats the case, then I would agree, he should nabbed him when he had the chance. I have always felt that this country has had a sense of hesitation when it comes to destroying the enemy. I wish we could get back to the World War Two way of fighting wars. Absolute and overwhelming force. Ofcourse, these are different times, but victory should always be the first priority. I just hope if president Obama gets the chance to take him out, that he takes it and doesn't hesitate like Clinton did. I also hope he doesn't let him go or try to mirandize him.

The guy I want to interview is Dick Cheney. In the late 70's he was the in as the White House Chief of Staff and in 1979 the CIA started funding Operation Cyclone to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars per year to fund Afghan Mujahadin to oppose the Russians in Afghanistan. The leader of the group was Osama Bin Laden who eventually formed Al-Queda which turned on their old buddies, the U.S.

No, Dan, Bin Laden won't be Mirandized. He will be dead before he has a chance to tell the real story.

The real story is about just how screwed up the CIA is/was. George the first was there too (as director of the CIA). So was Rummy (SecDef).

Those cats have a lot to hide. Interrogate Bin Laden? Are you kidding? They don't even want to catch him. Maybe he will die of old age. You won't hear the real story. Won't happen.

I'd like to hear what the CIA/OBL relationship was immediately before 9/11. If it was U.S. funding that Al Queda spent to blow up the buildings. I'll bet it was.

Charlie Wilson's war? What a great hero he turned out to be (not). Good movie, but they don't show who these Mujahadin turned into or where all that money and weapons went. We're receiving bullets from some of the guns provided by the U.S. in Operation Cyclone today in Afghanistan. Killing American sons.

And Cheney and his mouthpiece daughter have something to say about it? What a bunch of lying hypocrites.

Well we proably don't have the best track record when it comes to the rest of the World!
But then neither does Russia or China!
All who were content to fund and back opposing forces around the world!
Russia certainly didn't mind the use of chemical weapons in their attempt to take over Afganistan!
It was the Stinger (hand held heat seaking missiles) provided by the U.S. that ended their raid by helicopters. Plus Afgainstan was the most land mined area in the world.
Then don't forget Saddam in Iraq.
Who we backed in the Iran/Iraq war.
Or Cuba, Veitnam and Central America!
I'd say that in too many cases the backing of one side by the U.S. Turned out to be backing the same type of character as was the opposition/aggresor!
Why then are we surprised?

Bin Laden simply saw the opportunity to hijack the movement in Afganistan and turn it in to a Holy War! A WAR that is backed by opposing forces and on a scale greater than can be ever be produced by mankind!

If what you are saying is true, I hope they DO catch Bin Laden, and they do find out the truth on all the shady deals, and then prosecute the politicians involved. Democrat or Republican.

THEN they can hang him. slowly.

Clinton ruined the housing industry and the banking industry.
No, it was Bush 1 & 2 that ruined the banking and the housing industry.

I will submit the comment again. The if truth was something you could trade on the stock market, right now you could pick it up for pennies on the bundle.

In the USA we would rather take a bullet to the cheek, a hefty gut punch or a root canal performed by a gynecologist before we would open our eyes and seek the truth.

It is called being Politically Correct, or being Partisan, or being Political in general. Always blame the last guy in office, or the last Congress, or the current or past Supreme Court. If you look back, it has been that way since Washington's time, with the Federalists and Anti-Federalists. We become a society/government that sees that we need to make EVERYBODY happy, leave NO-ONE out, provide EVERYTHING to EVERYONE. Thing is, when you do that, someone will not be happy. It is not enough. That group is getting a free ride. I want my Escalade and my WIC card too.
