And they're off ....

In the very UNSCIENTIFIC Traveler online poll, Chris Smith has a slight lead thus far. Gotta believe that his name recognition as county attorney makes him the favorite.

Rod Iverson
(37 Votes, 22%)
LaDonna Lanning
(20 Votes, 12%)
Bill Muret
(26 Votes, 15%)
Chris Smith
(48 Votes, 28%)
Bert Wilson
(39 Votes, 23%)

REALLY!!!! Don't you take the traveler? Thurber isn't the only Jury Trial Cowley County has had. Chris Smith won them all by himself!!!!!!!!!

Well, who were they? Thurber's trial was done with outside help wasn't it? How many jury trials has he had vs how many has he plead down to avoid going to trial?

I am not knocking the guy, I just want my question answered. Then I will decide if he deserves my vote or not.

Yes Mr. Smith had outside help for the Thurber trial. However I'm sure there are not a lot of county attorney's that prosecute cases with the possibility of the death sentence. I find it refreshing to know he knew his limits and looked for help in this case. Would you really want him to lose a case like that and have someone like Thurber out loose on the streets?

And as far as cases being pleaded out....be thankful in some instances. If every case went to court do you realize how much money that would cost us????? And I'm sure you wouldn't like that.

If you really think its a higher than normal average than compare a county about the size of Cowley and the type of crimes they have and look at what the plead out and what they take to court. And then you would probably have a more accurate idea if its too high or too low.

I'm not defending him nor praising him but I also think people should look at the entire picture.

You don't get it. I am asking questions but you are dodging the answers. I really do want to know so I can base my vote on something.
