Dem defector

County Attorney Chris Smith says he discovered after being a prosecutor that he's more GOP than Democrat. I suppose this makes sense, but the timing of it — to run for district judge – seems like there might be a little political expedience in the mix? Although it might be easier to win on the Democratic side, with only one candidate, Mark Krusor, in that primary. Smith's entry into the GOP field brings the total to five.

Wonder if Smith will take his Obama bumper sticker off his car?

Just another politician looking for the easy way into office.

But he's got such a good prosecution record. The only cases on note, were handled by the State Attorney General.

I'm voting against him simply for the bumper sticker.

Smith has been a good county attorney and will make a good judge. He had the intellegence to ask for help with the Thurber prosecution instead of stubbornly going it alone. I will vote for him with or without the bumper sticker!

Sounds a little stalkerish that you know what bumper sticker he has on his car Davey....Maybe you should pay more attention to your little paper and not worry about what bumper stickers someone has on their car....

I think Chris Smith will make a fine Judge. He has exemplified in his position as prosecutor for this county and has a deep compassion for the people of this county and believes in fair justice for everyone. Party affiliation as to Democrat or Republican does not change the man or the job he has done.

I realize the County Attorney is a busy man, but I recently was in his office on a matter unrelated to the criminal court proceedings of his office. He took the time with me to explain how to handle my situation that I soon realized was not something his office would be involved in. This shows the compassion and caring of our County Attorney for the people of Cowley County.

Voting by party affiliation for a position that should be the pinnacle of impartiality is a joke!
