Wingnut of the Week

I'd always thought Brit Hume a reasonable, logical guy. But to call on Tiger Woods to convert to Christianity because Buddhism doesn't offer redemption, on national television, with Jewish friend Bill Kristol sitting beside him, shows he's a got a marble loose, and like Andrew Sullivan notes, highlights the blending of the GOP and Christian fundamentalism, promoted by Fox News. Furthermore, does he really think Buddhists can't make amends and do better?

Oh, and this kicks off my new series called Wingnut of the Week. I'll do my best to keep it bipartisan, but you all know where I'm coming from. And I'll plan to do this on Friday or Saturday, at the end of the week. I just couldn't resist putting this in it's proper place.

It was VERY brave of BH. What he said was true.

TW WILL find peace & joy in Christianity. Will his problems go away ? No, but he will be able to deal with them better.

You would too.

It is TOO easy to shoot the messenger cause you don't like the Message.

How many Buddhist hospitals are there ? NONE, since they believe in karma & if you are sick then you are suppose to deal with it since it is your karma.

Buddha isn't exactly a good role model since he is pictured as obese. What kind of message does that send ?

Don't you loose the debate when you start calling people wingnuts ?

Isn't it better to debate the subject & not the person ?

I would challenge a non Christian with a 6 week experiment. This is a challenge for TW & Junior.

1. Ask God to show Himself to you. Talk to God/Jesus like he was a friend.

2. Give God/Jesus 6 weeks of research. Have you researched Christianity as much as other subjects ?

3. Read the Bible starting with the Gospel of John. Crosswalk.com has an online Bible tool.

4. Don't shoot the messengers God puts in your path. Christians are just messengers.

5. Listen or read personal testimonies of Christians. Christianity is about a relationship NOT a religion. Each Christian's testimony will be personal. I'm 50 & was saved as a child. I knew in my heart that Jesus was the only way to heaven. The First United Methodist Church couldn't save me/get me to heaven, my parents couldn't save me, I couldn't save me. I didn't really immerse myself in Bible study until I was 26.

6. Go to a Christian forum like Crosswalk.com if you have specific questions. It is a moderated forum with a TOS. They also have chat. Although I personally prefer forums.

7. Find a local Bible study to attend. Wichita has a Precept Bible Study by Kay Arthur & CBS is available :

http://www.communitybiblestudy.org/classes_and_courses.aspx

http://www.precept.org/site/PageServer?pagename=caw_classes_local

8. Knock off the name calling. It shows you are not serious.

Do you think you would be a christian if you were born in Baghdad? You are a christian because of circumstances of birth. You were born into a christian family or grew up around christians. If you were born into an islamic family you would be islamic. If your god would send someone to hell for being of the wrong religion, when they had no choice, then he is no loving god.

If you are paying attention to Britt Hume, you are wasting your time.

I would like to challenge a Christian to an experiment as well. Investigate all the other great world faiths outside of Christianity. "try the spirits whether they are of God," as the Bible asks you to do. This would be an easy test for a Christian to conduct. If they know their Bible, they will already know how to tell the difference between a true and false prophet. "Matthew 7:15Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 16Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

So, according to the Bible, if another religion bears "good fruit," it has to be of God. And before you make the 98% true but 2% false argument, please remember that there is no truth in Satan (see John 8:44 for one example), so that rules him out of being involved...

Get to crackin' Christians...expand your small world view.

But Christians don't believe in experiments.

Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. (Ga. 6:7)

Sounds like Christians should also believe in Karma...the concept is in their book...
